The Penguin's Snow Song

Every winter, the penguins gathered on the snowy shore to sing beneath the stars. Pippa wanted to join them, but her voice came out as a tiny squeak.

Cada invierno, los pingüinos se reunían en la orilla nevada para cantar bajo las estrellas. Pippa quería unirse, pero de su garganta solo salía un chillido muy suave.

She practiced beside the sea. She sang to the waves and to the moon, yet her song was still too soft to hear over the wind. Pippa felt like turning back.

Practicó junto al mar. Le cantó a las olas y a la luna, pero el viento seguía tapando su voz. Pippa pensó en regresar a casa.

Then she noticed the sound of her feet on the ice. Tap, tap, pause. She tried a new rhythm. Tap, tap, tap! The beat carried across the shore.

Entonces oyó el sonido de sus patas sobre el hielo. Toc, toc, pausa. Probó un ritmo nuevo. ¡Toc, toc, toc! El golpeteo cruzó toda la orilla.

One penguin began to sing along. Then another joined, and soon the whole group followed Pippa's cheerful tapping. Their voices rose into the clear night sky.

Un pingüino empezó a cantar con ella. Después se unió otro, y pronto todo el grupo siguió el alegre ritmo de Pippa. Sus voces subieron hacia el cielo despejado.

Pippa's song had been there all along. It sounded different from the others, and that made the winter music even better.
