The Rabbit and the Lantern

Pip the rabbit found a little lantern beside the forest path. Its candle was still glowing. Someone must be looking for it, she thought.

Pip, la conejita, encontró un pequeño farol junto al sendero del bosque. La vela todavía brillaba. Alguien debe estar buscándolo, pensó.

She carried it toward the village. Soon she met a beetle who could not see the bridge in the dusk. Pip held the lantern high, and they crossed together. Farther on, a family of mice needed help finding their gate. Pip walked beside them until they were home.

Lo llevó hacia la aldea. Pronto encontró a un escarabajo que no veía el puente al anochecer. Pip levantó el farol y cruzaron juntos. Más adelante, una familia de ratones necesitaba ayuda para encontrar su puerta. Pip caminó con ellos hasta que llegaron a casa.

At the last cottage, Nia the mole opened her door. “My lantern!” she cried. “I thought I had lost it.”

Pip handed it back. The forest behind her looked dark now, but Nia smiled and stepped outside.

“Come,” she said. “A light can guide two friends just as well as one.” Together they followed the bright little circle all the way to Pip's burrow.
